Set Up Custom Domain

Connect your own domain (e.g. meinstudio.de) with Pixalo. We use Cloudflare for maximum security and speed.

Why Cloudflare?

Free SSL

Automatic encryption for your shop and your customers.

Ultra Fast

Global CDN ensures short load times everywhere.

DDoS Protection

Protects against downtime from attacks.

1

Add Domain in Pixalo

Start in the Pixalo Dashboard under Settings > Domains. Add your domain to get the verification token.

2

Create Cloudflare Account

Go to dash.cloudflare.com/sign-up and create a free account.

Then add your domain (e.g. mydomain.com) and click "Add site".

Now choose the Free Plan (at the very bottom). This is free forever and is completely sufficient.

3

Change Nameservers

1. Copy Cloudflare Nameservers

Cloudflare will display two nameservers (e.g. jerry.ns.cloudflare.com). Copy these.

Copy Cloudflare Nameservers

2. Enter at Domain Provider

Log in to your domain provider (Strato, IONOS, GoDaddy etc.). Look for "DNS" or "Nameserver" settings and replace the entries with those from Cloudflare.

4

Wait for Cloudflare Activation

After changing the nameservers, you need to wait briefly. Cloudflare will verify in the background if the change has taken effect.

Patience Required

This step can take between 15 minutes and 24 hours. You will receive an email from Cloudflare once your domain is active ("Active").

5

Connect Pixalo (DNS Records)

Once your domain is active in Cloudflare, go to DNS > Records and click "Add record".

1. TXT RecordVerification

This entry confirms that the domain really belongs to you. Select "TXT" as the type.

2. CNAME RecordRedirection

This entry redirects your visitors to our server. Select "CNAME" as the type.

IMPORTANT: Turn off Proxy Status!

Be sure to set the switch for "Proxy status" to DNS only. The cloud must be Grey, not Orange! If the cloud is Orange, Pixalo cannot create the SSL certificate.

Add Cloudflare CNAME Record

Done!

Now go back to your Pixalo Dashboard and click "Verify". It can take up to 24 hours, but since we used "DNS Only", it usually works immediately.
